What Do YOU Do?

Ok, this will be my last post today :) I think I am already over my 25 min posting limit ;) I was just curious. What all does your daily devotion time involve? Do you do your Bible reading and devotion at the same time? Do you study at that time? I know it is not the same for you every day, but if you could have a perfect set aside time with the Lord every day, what time would it be, where would it be, what would you do? I am asking because I need to do some reaaranging in my daily schedule (which has turned into a non-schedule) because of my adjusting to little Ayden who is almost 3 months and awake more. I would like to have some inspiration for a time that can be very special with the Lord and works with my 4 little ones. I already know I am going to have to beat my early bird out of bed...she gets up as early as 6am sometimes! Thank you!!!!

My devotions consist of reading a daily devotional from the Baptist Bread. A little pamphlet we get from church. Plus Bible reading. My former Pastor would always say that if you're in the habit of reading long passages and your mind tends to wander, focus on one verse to draw as many things as you can out of it. I'm a mind wanderer. LOL But that really helped me. Have you ever read an entire chapter and then immediately realized you weren't paying attention to what you were reading?? Crazy, I know. But I do that. But focussing on one verse helps me. Well, anyway....you asked. LOL
Have a great day!

Hi Heather,

I don't really have a devotional book. so I am looking for 1 so if you know of any that is good let me know.I like to have my time with the Lord in early mornings Because there is no interupions. And if I had a devotional book I would do it all at the same time.

well, hmmmm. I'll just be flat-out honest with you. I have NO SET time with the Lord, and it's really been showing lately. :( I've been praying and praying about it, but no action. I'm really going to act. I really want to try to get up at 530am. I have an early bird too. I would like to start walking first, then coming home and reading my Bible/doing a devotion, whatever I'm doing at the time. (I go back and forth. Sometimes a devotional helps me focus and stay on track, and sometimes I'm just caught up in reading or studying soemthing and just go with it!!)
I'm REALLY bad about family altar. And our schedule makes it difficult, but baby steps, right?? We really are going to make an effort.
How about this, I'll pray for you, and you pray for ME!!!
(Sorry for the book!!)

That sounds great! I have a study time every day that involes usually My Utmost For His Highest, and the Titus 2 series study, but I really need to be able to get up before ANY rugrats for a time of prayer and meditation on the Word you know? I am trying to read through the Bible as well..., but I end up looking deeper...and off on a bunny trail..soo I guess I will just start with an early wake up and go from there...

I'll be totally honest and say that I don't have a set time or anything set at all about devotions. I would like to. WOrking on that. At some point during the day, I read "My utmost for his highest".

I've heard it said mothers with some children don't always have time for a definate prayer/devotional time. I believe that. I think that God totally knows what we are doing. I also feel that I live in a state of "praying without ceasing", not necessarily on my knees, but continual prayer.

I have a hard time reading anything other than a short devotion like the one I mentioned, but I always get soemthing from our family devotions, that usually consists of my husband reading to us all and discussin it. So, our new plan is going to be to try and get to bed, before I'm ready to pass out, and he will read to me. I'm pretty happy about this, I'll let you know how it works.

I'll be in prayer for you.
Love, Melissa

P.s. Sorry this is such a long comment.

Thank you all for your input...I like taking everything into consideration when doing my schedule...which I am flexible, but I need a somewhat regimented routine because my girls do best with a routine...especially with my husband leaving for school and all. It really gives them a sense of security. My devotion time absolutely has to happen in the morning...or it won't get done, but my Bible reading (for the year long throught the Bible plan) I can do at night...
