A Quiet Corner...

..where the true celebration of Christmas is pondered. It lies far far from the crowded mall-far even from the pile of giftwrap left crumpled under the flashing tinsel covered tree. It is ironic reading this wonderfully written post by Sarah as we have been led to do things very differently this Christmas and asking the Lord to help us maintain a focus on the ultimate gift... I will write about what we decided.... after Christmas. Thanks for letting me swipe this link Ashleigh and Ms Mishel! :) I too...had to just *stop* and think.

It's so easy to get lost in the season. We, as Christians, complain that Wal Mart won't say "Merry Christmas." And yet, we don't take a moment to focus on the Christ who is the reason we have a CHRISTmas. We worry about when we're going to be able to go shopping and spend all of our time running in and out of stores, swiping our credit cards and worrying about the bill coming in January. We're working overtime for Christmas money and buying gifts that people may or may not like....just so long as they have something to open and we get lost. Lost in the hustle and bustle of parties and dinners, luncheons, and outings. We never take time to read the Christmas story except just before we open our presents on Christmas. We don't take a moment to let the children act out the Christmas story with our precious nativities or sit in the quiet watching the lights on the tree and remember the greatest Light of all the world is still shining, waiting to be noticed.
This year, our Christmas play ends with a song, "Christmas Is The Time To Praise The Lord."

Isn't it?

Looking forward to reading what you've done this year. Sarah's post challenged both John and I in a huge way this year, and has caused us to look at Christmas through comlpletely different eyes...
